About Me
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here <3
My name is Stephanie (she/her), and everything I do in my practice is rooted in a simple, profound belief: that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to offer a skilled, compassionate space where you can remember that truth.
On my landing page, I introduced myself as a Fat Liberation Therapist and Brainspotting Practitioner. Here, I’d like to share a bit more about what that truly means and the journey that led me to this work.
My Journey to This Work
My identity as a queer, first-generation daughter of immigrants isn’t just a bullet point in my bio—it’s the foundation of my empathy. I understand firsthand the unique pressures of navigating my culture, carrying unspoken family stories, and feeling the weight of "making it" while trying to heal from the inside out. I've seen how generational trauma and systemic oppression can lodge themselves not just in our minds, but in our very bodies.
It was this understanding that drew me to an integrative approach, one that honors the power of both insight and somatic release. While exploring your story through talk therapy is a vital part of healing, I found that we sometimes need tools to go beyond words to access the parts of our experience that language alone can't reach. This is why I am a dedicated Brainspotting Practitioner. I weave this powerful, somatic method into our work to help you access and release the trauma, anxiety, and shame that your nervous system has been holding onto, often for years.
What "Fat Liberation" Means in My Practice
My commitment to Fat Liberation is integral to my work. This means I actively reject diet culture and the harmful, systemic stigma placed on larger bodies. In our space, your body is not a problem to be solved. We will focus on body respect and liberation, freeing up your mental and emotional energy from a lifelong battle with body shame so you can focus on what truly matters to you.
What to Expect When We Work Together
Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership. I don't see healing as a choice between talking and somatic work; instead, I skillfully blend them to create a holistic path forward. We will use:
-
Integrative Talk Therapy to understand the patterns, stories, and beliefs that shape your world.
-
Brainspotting to gently process and release the deep, somatic roots of trauma, anxiety, and shame that words can't always touch.
This combination allows us to honor your whole experience—mind and body—as we cultivate a sense of safety, insight, and empowerment.
My approach is always trauma-informed, culturally competent, and radically affirming. You can bring your full, authentic self to our sessions—the parts you're proud of and the parts you feel you have to hide.
A Little More About Me Personally
When I’m not in the therapist’s chair, you can find me watching anime, playing video games, and running after my two small children. These moments of joy and connection are essential, and I believe in nurturing them for myself as much as I encourage them for my clients.
You Don't Have to Carry It All
Taking this step to seek therapy is an act of profound courage. If the words on this page resonate with you, I invite you to take the next one.
